Hi All

This is my first post. Just wondering if anyone can tell me the length of time/process for a de facto visa (820/801) lodged in Australia.

I lodged the visa at the beginning of March 2009 and the money was taken out straight away but since then nothing.......

If anyone has some info that would be fantastic

Thanks in advance

We lodged one on March 12 and received grant on April 1.

To have the money taken out of your account immediately is standard procedure.

I have seen an email somewhere which said that up to at least the end of June it will take between 6 and 10 weeks for applications lodged in Melbourne, for a combination of reasons, including refitting the Family Residence section, so I guess we were just lucky.

Hi Stehan

Welcome to Poms in Oz.

Do you know which office your spouse application was lodged at? I've heard a lot of complaints about the Sydney office in relation to spouse visas. They can take up to 6 months apparently because they are desperately short staffed.

I don't know whether you can choose one office instead of another with spouse visas but my guess is that you probably can't.

Best wishes

Gill
