Guest curly410
Hi there everyone. I hope someone can help...... I'm from the UK and my Aussie boyfriend has gone back home to Darwin. I'm going out there in May on a 3 month tourist visa with a flexible return flight. We have all required de facto evidence as he lived with me for 2 years here in the UK. I know it's more expensive to apply onshore but all the research I've done seems to suggest that it can be quicker to lodge your partnership visa application when in Australia as long as you have frontloaded the medical and police check. I've heard that some couples have lodged their application personally with an immigration officer in OZ and had it granted then and there after an interview. Has this happened to anyone in Darwin or the NT? How long are de facto/partnership visas taking to be granted in the NT? How long are de facto/partnership visas currently taking to be granted if lodged in the UK? Should I get my medical done in the UK before I go, or in OZ as soon as I get there? How much does the medical cost in OZ? Any other advice? Many thanks Curly x
