Matthew Hunter Hi Matthew, I am sure we are all very happy to have you on the forum, ...but please be open and honest with the forum members. All, ....Matthew is a recruitment agent (I know, ...I use him/them)...and to be fair, my firm has engaged a few good people through Bayside... ...so they do do a fair job.... Look here...http://www.baysidegrp.com.au/ ... but I still have direct job opportunities around the country with GHD (http://www.ghd.com.au) for water design engineers, and other professional consulting engineers ...amongst others. (Matthew, ...if you have any decent ones on your book, please flick their CVs to me....) Fraser

Guest Fraser
Just because its not on the website doesn't mean that it is not available... David Luscome, the Adelaide office manager, and MicK Scott the manager in Mt Gambier, are always happy to see appllications from good people, whethere there is an advertised vacancy or not. Why not drop a CV to Tania_Mandorlo@ghd.com.au. She is the GHD recruitmenrt coordinator for South Australia. Fraser

Guest vikki-totten
Hi All, I'm moving to Melbourne on 14th July to live with my Aussie boyfriend (on a work and holiday visa). I'm Studying Manufacturing Engineering at Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland and will graduate with a BEng in Manufacturing Engineering in early July. I was told Australia has a real shortage of Engineers, but when I look on Career One or Seek at the graduate jobs available, the first thing they ask is "can you work permanently". I was hoping to find a company who would take me on (as I alreday have my work ad holiday visa granted) and then maybe sponsor me so I can then work permanently. I can't apply for a Defacto Visa until I've proof of living with my boyfriend for 12 months. I am trying to contact as many companies now, to even maybe have an interview lined up for when I arrive. Or would it be easier to just wait until I am there in person in July?? Just wondering if anyone could offer me any advice, there seems to be a number of graduate jobs going but they want people with permanent visa's.....and I was told I couldn't apply for a permanent visa as I won't have had 2 years experience in industry as I will only be out of uni. Appreciate any advice anyone can offer. Vik
Guest Pesky Varmit
Hi Vikki Welcome, from one Norn Irelander to another! Don't know much about the situation in Melbourne, but it's not just as rosey in Adelaide as we were lead to believe. We came over on a STNI visa which implies there was a definite demand for hubby's occupation but he is struggling to find work. He is a manufacture/design engineer who worked for N. Irelands only defence manufacturer for 18 years. It seems many of the jobs here are in the oil/gas/mining industries and these are also the best paid by far. Ordinary manufacturing is somewhat slower. The only piece of advice we can offer is be flexible in what you are prepared to do. Oz is a wonderful place, embrace it and enjoy it. Good luck with all your plans. Feel free to PM if you need anything more specific.
