Hi,

 

Were looking into the sunshine coast and wandering if anyone has any information on maroochydore. we are hoping to make the move over early 09 and there will only be the two of us(leaving the kids and dog in the uk yipee!).

 

Any info about this location will be gratefully received.

well i can help you out thier its loveley tho dont know much about it but our aim is to live in buderim which is very near next door almost the area is fab closre to everything the beaches are fantastic i cant wait good luck

■ MAROOCHYDORE

Maroochydore is at the very centre of the Sunshine Coast, with Caloundra to the south and Noosa to the north. Cotton Tree, an ocean-side suburb on the Maroochy River, is a popular holiday spot, well-serviced by holiday flats and a caravan park. The rivermouth, which leisure craft now ply, was once the site of a large timbermill from where the local lumber was shipped to Brisbane by paddle-steamer. There are river cruises, and great fishing opportunities in this aquatic paradise.

 

The Maroochy Shire is graced by 25 kilometres of golden sands and inviting ocean that embraces such famous surf beaches as Mooloolaba, Alexandra Headland, Coolum and Maroochydore. To balance the call of the sea, the shire boasts 3722 hectare of municipal reserves and 2000 hectare of national parkland. Located on the beautiful Maroochy River, Maroochydore is the well known bustling hub and CBD of the Sunshine Coast.

 

A recent resurgence in the popularity of this town has earmarked it for some spectacular development with a mixture of sleek high rise urban dwellings and commercial spaces.

Together with the dynamic shopping precinct of the Sunshine Plaza, Maroochydore boasts a large number of small businesses as well as larger corporations including banks and insurers.

 

The beautiful and picturesque Maroochy river has long been a favourite of fishermen and for those who love to sail, canoe or go boating. Lined along the river are some quaint old “Queenslanders” as well as newer style of accommodation to cater for families and singles alike.

 

Adjacent to Maroochydore and nestling the Maroochy River is the quaint suburb of cotton Tree. Once a well known camping and caravan spot Cotton Tree has recently undergone a transformation into a dynamic small village with trendy cafes and eateries as well as being a hub for the medical fraternity and private specialists rooms.

 

Maroochydore beach is well known for its safe swimming and surfing and golden sands with a long stroll that can be taken down to Alex Headlands another popular beach side town. Walking paths link Maroochydore to Mooloolaba following the coastline.
