  1. Hi, We are retirees moving from.Sydney and considering Mooloolaba or Maroochydore in the Sunshine Coast. Are there areas to avoid in Maroochydore in terms of safety? What areas would you recommend for retirees not wanting to drive and have access to facilities like medical, shopping, group exercise, safe beach swimming, entertainment i.e. theatre, public transport, community atmosphere, seniors clubs Thanks.
  2. Just decided to move to the sunshine coast in March 2015 with two young kids (4 and 6) as my partner has a job in Maroochydore. I do destination marketing and travel account management in the UK currently. Any advice on the travel industry in the area would be much appreciated - what kind of travel companies there are and where most are located. Also, any advice on where would be best to live for a sense of community, good schools and kid safe beaches would be very helpful. Getting excited now!
  3. Hi. I was wondering if there are any Sunshine Coast folks who can recommend good spots to live, that aren't hideously expensive! We'd like to be somewhere near-ish Nambour (for the family). Somewhere where I can get to shops/cafe in the car in 10 minutes or 30/40 mins on a bike. Obviously it would be good to be quite near a beach, but I'm guessing that's a lot more money! Thanks for any help. Vics.

    House hunting - Maroochydore

Hi. We're arriving in Maroochydore on 23rd November (visa came through last week) and I'd really appreciate any advice anyone has on house hunting. We're looking for a short term furnished let for first 3 weeks whilst we find a house we want to live in longer term. Any advice on the best places to look or people to contact please? I don't want to be homeless when we get there!! :-(
  5. My family are relocating to the Sunshine Coast in November and are looking for a house to rent. We've looked at holiday lets but because of the time of year they are either extremely expensive or don't have availability over Christmas. We'd like to find a house in the Maroochy/Alex Hills/Cotton Tree/Mooloolaba areas with 3 beds or more and aircon. (A pool would be nice but it's not essential.) We're a professional couple with teenage children and don't want to pay any more than $450 a week. Can anyone help me please??

  12. Hi there, As in an earlier thread i explained we are going over to the sunshine coast on a student visa, the college is in Nambour but this area isn't really what we were looking for anyway we have almost decided on living in Maroochydore but am wondering about the job prospects we would only be able to afford 1 car for around the first 6 mths so only 1 of us can have the use of it as in getting to college or work i can only work 20 hrs a week due to visa rules and would be looking for something in the finance/admin sector so need to know what's the best area for us, we have a teenage son so has to be quite outdoorsy, we definately want to be near the beach and close to a high school and shops, bars, etc and where rentals aren't outrageously expensive (don't want much do i lol) but obviously the job prospects for myself will haved to be the deciding factor so my question is whether Maroochydore is the place or has anyone got anymore recommendations for us :err:
  13. Hello We are moving over to Maroochydore in May this year and just wondering what the current job situation is like for that area of the sunshine coast? My partner is an IT professional - working in IT support and database administration and I work in recruitment and HR for an agency in Perth currently. Are their many companies we could target for these type of positions? Has anyone heard on the news and in lcoal papers that the Sunshinest area is going to be hit badly by the economic downturn? Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  18. Hi all We are coming to the Sunshine Coast in August and need somewhere to stay. We've heard that getting a mobile home for the first two or three weeks is a good idea to enable us to get the feel of the area before making any big decisions, Anyone have any advice on mobile home parks in the Maroochydore area? Or any other suggestions/advice gratefully received.
