Working Holiday Visa (417) to Student Visa to PR (190)

Hi,

My 2nd year WHV is coming to an end on the 8th February and with tightening of the rules in the area that I currently work in (civil construction) sponsorship is not an option as I would need 3 years experience over my current 8 months. My company are willing to sponsor but the immigration agent has advised against as my background is in the Finance and Accounting industry for the past 11 years.

I have been advised by multile immigration agents that applying for PR on a state sponsored 190 visa is an option based on my experience and qualifications under Mangement Consultant. However I will not got an application in and processed by February 8th.

Not keen to go home to go back home to Ireland where the rental housing market is an absolute  basket case, I am certain I would like to stay in Australia. In the meantime I am looking at a student visa to bridge the gap until the PR application is processed by taking up a business course. The 20 hr work week restriction will not be an issue for me.

Has anybody gone the route of student visa to PR before with a similar background and can you please share your experience?

Also if a bridging visa comes in whilst the substantive application for PR 190 is lodged and I am on a student visa, does this override the student visa and I have full working rights again?

Thanks in advance
