Roisin
Hi, My partner is a Plumber in northern Ireland with an excellent CV of experience over more than 10years . He is trying to submit a vetassess skills assessment but we are struggling to find a first aid course that contains care of bites and stings as this isn't really a problem in UK or Ireland. This is a strict requirement for plumbers applying for vetassess. Does anyone have experience with this? Or can they recommend a first aid course in UK or ireland that does this? I have emailed red cross and the vetassess organisation 2 days ago but neither have replied.... Thanks in advance
Jsmull87
I think the down under centre can do them or point you in the direction. Pure coincidence that I was reading that section of the website last night even though I’m not a plumber.

Roisin
Just posting an update for future reference if anyone comes on this thread: I contacted the Down Under Centre and although they did offer this course in the past they no longer do it anymore unfortunately. I recieved a reply from Vetassess who were very helpful, I will attach it below..... =============================================== Thank you for your email. Please note that different providers design courses comprising different topics and are of different durations. These are the topics required to be covered so that a plumber can be awarded the unit of competency, Candidates for plumbing assessments must also provide a current level 2 First Aid Certificate. The first aid course you complete must include: CPR injuries from head to toe wounds and bleeding burns, poisons, bites and stings medical emergencies: o chest pain, asthma, anaphylaxis, choking, shock o stroke, seizures, fainting, diabetes infection control. Even the course does not cover Bites and stings, it will be accepable as long as the course covers the rest of the topics. You are welcome to send us the course contents to clarify before you start the First Aid training course.
