Toots
Australia has scrapped its tax on female sanitary products following an 18-year row. Under the new rule, Australians purchasing sanitary products will not have to fork out an extra 10 percent in goods and services tax (GST). Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said it will come into effect on January 1, 2019. Womens groups have been campaigning against the tax since it was introduced in 2000. They argue that sanitary products should be classified as essential items.
