Loumay
Advice needed please...my husband is currently serving as a Infantry CSgt his job is Infantry Signals with 15+ years experience. He has military qualifications in infantry signals, however, none are recognised in the civilian world. My question is can he submit for a skills assessment using his 15+ years experience and military qualifications or will he require civilian qualifications?? Thanks in advance. VERYSTORMY
It would depend on what occupation and skills he is having assessed. It can be possible to use experience in place of qualificatoon by a system called recognition of prior learning
Loumay
Thanks VERYSTORMY for your reply, occupation would be telecomms but unsure what area, maybe telecomms operator or linesman. Will have a look into recognition of prior learning route.
VERYSTORMY
I would recommend you run your case past a good registered migration agent. There are a number who are posters on the forum and will give an initial review of your visa prospects for free

Loumay
We've hit a brick wall in regards to a skills assessment, are there any registered migration agents on here that could advise me PLEASE. We've looked at recognition of prior learning but can't find who would carry out the assessment. Any advice is more then welcome.
Loumay
We've narrowed his job/trade to Communication Systems Operator, not sure what that would be equal to in civilian work place.
Zad the Mad
Hi Loumay, Just out of interest did you think of lateral transfer to the Aus Army! They have a special arrangement with Immi that doesn't require you to jump through a lot of hoops just get a 186 visa and they take you through the who process. They are currently looking for his trade aswell Ex RAF but didn't go that route as my trade isn't open for the RAAF. I am lucky I got trade qualifications but you may find some military courses are based on civil courses but altered to include the military special stuff. Check his certificates if they have any civilian companies like ILM etc. Most military trade based training is usual affiliated to a civilian body. If he is unlucky and absolutely non of his qualifications are affiliated (city and guilds/NVQ's) then he may struggle as they need the trade Qualifications to count towards experience. If he has done this for 17 years and has no formal training this would be an issue. I'm Avionics by trade so am applying under Electronic Equipment Trade worker. I looked for the communication Systems operator but the only things to show up are Communications operator with specialisations (all Military) Kind regards ZAD
Loumay
Hi Zad Thanks for your reply. We've looked in the Aus Army but unfortunately an old injury put a stop to joining. Good luck with your move.
