  1. Hi, I applied for electronics equipment trade worker back in Dec 2017 and waited till Mar 2018 to be picked up. My processing time was very short 5 days for Sate Sponsorship as i provide everything to cover the points claimed and after that I am still waiting for the application process to complete got a request for Form 80 and some other stuff. They look every couple of weeks in batches and look for the trades they are really short of. I had the same as GOTOAUS 55 points. Some jobs require higher points as they have lots of applicants and take the higher mark ones first. Also to let you know even if you do have enough points you may still be rejected if you cannot provide the evidence to back up your points. As for 190 vs 489 always go 190 as 489 is temporary visa and 190 is a PR visa. you would have to reapply for a 189 or 190 towards the end of a 489 you are also required to work in the region for 4 years on a 489 and only 2 on a 190. Please everyone remember just because you are invited doesn't mean you will get a visa, it just means that they think you are eligible. Kind Regards Zad
  2. Hi, Though you have 3.5 years experience they only count 1.5 years as you weren't qualified until after the first 2 years. Yes it is confusing but in all cases you use the experience/qualified years not the total. In my case i had over 10 years and didn't lose any less than that. Kind regards Zad
  3. HI Yajina, Unfortunately the questions are not set so will vary to each independent interviewer. As long as you just study up and elaborate it should be ok. It also depends on your knowledge and how well you answer the questions. As for the practical I don't really know as I only had the interview. I am on the understanding they only use the practical when required. ie, you don't have enough work experience evidence or fail on safety. Hope this helps ZAD
  4. Hi Loumay, Just out of interest did you think of lateral transfer to the Aus Army! They have a special arrangement with Immi that doesn't require you to jump through a lot of hoops just get a 186 visa and they take you through the who process. They are currently looking for his trade aswell Ex RAF but didn't go that route as my trade isn't open for the RAAF. I am lucky I got trade qualifications but you may find some military courses are based on civil courses but altered to include the military special stuff. Check his certificates if they have any civilian companies like ILM etc. Most military trade based training is usual affiliated to a civilian body. If he is unlucky and absolutely non of his qualifications are affiliated (city and guilds/NVQ's) then he may struggle as they need the trade Qualifications to count towards experience. If he has done this for 17 years and has no formal training this would be an issue. I'm Avionics by trade so am applying under Electronic Equipment Trade worker. I looked for the communication Systems operator but the only things to show up are Communications operator with specialisations (all Military) Kind regards ZAD
  5. Hi James666, I have been through the process. My back ground is over 17 years in Avionics but most of our stuff is box in box out and some wiring, very rarely do we do any electronic stuff nowadays. but here is my experience with the interview side. If you need to just look things up before had and do a little study as you will find its lodged somewhere inside your brain you just haven't used it for so long. The Interview will last around 45 min to an hour and will ask questions covering all the subject on the description. My main failing was some newer symbols used in circuit diagrams. The main aspect would be to elaborate on your answers where possible. The more information you provide freely without being prompted make the other person ask less questions. In fact I answered some of the upcoming questions earlier and the interviewer just skipped them. Always remember the health and safety aspect of the Job. As I said I was an Avionic tech so had no idea about Plant maintenance till the interviewer pointed out working on aircraft with the Power supplies (High Ampère Generators) is plant maintenance. That was the only area I was worried about. I took mine last year so I cannot say what questions you will be asked but usually what a circuit does/ symbols/ wiring for Networks ( I only remembered Cat 5, 6 and 6a the standards and not the others!!!!!) you will be glad to know they don't expect you to know Fibre Optic stuff as this really is a specialist area. Health and safety is also vital. If you most of it and cannot remember just say you don't remember and you would look it up. Though its a test not everyone will remember everything and unlike an exam as long as you know what your taking about and elaborate you will be fine. Don't try and make things up as the interviewers are experts and do know it all or have it written down. if pushed use as a guess but state you would look it up before you carried out any work. If you do miss out on some items its not the end as if you actual are borderline they will ask you to do a practical. My best suggestion is don't be nervous. Cheers Z
  6. Hi, I applied for NSW back in March and was picked up on my 190 for the same trade and am currently in the process of completing the visa as they requested more information in relation to a form 90 so have yet to get the out come. I am an EX RAF Avionic tech and getting a positive trade assessment was pretty easy for me. I took IELTS 3 times and always failed to get the required score. I then took PTE Academic and failed on the Spoken section, however, I then learnt how to do the spoken section and Passed with scores in the 80 to 90 region. If English is your first language then PTE Academic is easy once you learn the system. IELTS is very subjective as its marked by a person and I had some very random scores for written being dyslexic. I initially applied for New Zealand and took IELTS in the UK in a region I am from so the examiners knew the English as English (the Queens), however, if you take it in other countries you my find they are using the American version. PTE is all electronically marked so if you know how to do things it is very easy and use American English. You do need a good memory though for the spoken and listening part. My recommendation is try to get the highest score possible as this is one of the thing they do look at. Though you scored overall is +65 equivalent to 7.0 in IELTS is good but really the more points you have the better as you will be looked at sooner. I got selected by NSW for a 190 within a couple of weeks of expressing interest and as I had all my documents (Certified) ready they responded very quickly. You then wait to be invited to apply for your 190. (Make sure you put the correct information on you expression of interest) As for processing time, these do vary from application to application and how many are in process just keep an eye on the web site. As for a positive outcome for TRA depends on the documents supplied, work experience and other factors. You will be requested to have an interview in which case read up on the areas you think you may not know, Also include Health and safety though you should really be doing this day in and day out. The interview will be conducted in English and depending where you are my be a video call with a lecturer at a academic institution. If you need to conduct a practical you would have to attend a specified location. I myself only had to attend a interview. Its basic questions cover what things are (electronic symbols) AC and DC amps, rectifiers etc. and health and safety. Though they do try and concentrate on specific areas. If you don't know just say that and the interviewer may give you hints depending how you have been answering the questions to jolt your memory. Try Not to use an agent unless they are actually listed by the immi department and are registered. To be honest anyone who needs an agent should really look at whether they should be applying if English is you first language. Regards Z
