Mongey
Can anyone help? or info would be much appreciated? I used a WHV when i was 19, Played cricket in Perth for the summer of 2013/2014 and was told the WHV was the safest option if i had to work etc... Worked for a landscaper done everything through the books during my stay in that time which i really did enjoy but the cricket season ended and i come home. I went home and got my city and guilds Level 2 in brick/blocklaying. I have my heart set on coming back with the trade but not sure how to go about it, I'm currently 23. Just me, would like to come back and work and know there is a demand for brickies, just not sure what avenue i could take? in terms of visas etc thanks Luke
VERYSTORMY
If you have been working as a bricklayer since you obtained your NVQ then you should be able to pass a skills assessment for a permanent 189 visa. Have a read of border.gov.au and the 189. As an aside though, I would not recommend Perth at the moment as it is in an economic downturn. But the east of Oz is doing very well. Richard Gregan
Yes, work experience in bricklaying is key here. the NVQ 2 is not at the required level but work experience will help you. If you don't have enough then keep on the tools for now and build up the experience. Regards, Richard
