Australian Visa Labels

I am an Australian permanent resident and have an Australian visa label evidencing my residence status in my current passport. However, my passport is about to expire and I will be applying for a new passport very soon. I also just realised that the Australian Government announced on 1 September 2015 that it no longer issues visa labels (https://www.border.gov.au/aboutyourvisa) - notwithstanding that, I would nevertheless still like a visa label stuck in my passport, e.g. if I have to return to Australia from certain, less sophisticated destinations, I'd like them to know instantly that I am an Australian resident (in addition to being a British citizen of course!). I was also thinking that how will New Zealand continue to be aware that I am an Australian permanent resident (given that Australian permanent residents are also considered to be NZ residents).

 

As such, does any one know of any way I can nevertheless still applying to the DIBP/an Australian consular mission for an Australian visa label? Thanks in advance!

You can't get a label, they don't do them any more. There is something called a Permanent Resident Evidence Card though, that might cover it. http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Refu/Immi/Permanent-resident-evidence-ImmiCard

It may well be, just the closest i could find on google. They definitely don't do visa labels any more and I know there is some kind of certificate or card you can get to prove your status. Try an agent maybe?

Labels were stopped a while back. Its all electronic these days. You need to fil out a form to notify them of your new passport and they will link your visa to it electonically.

The New Zealand immigration systems are linked to the Australian ones so they know you have PR in Australia.
