Laura Fawbert1
Hi Everyone Are we still eligible for home school fees status in the UK? We have been in Adelaide for over 15 months on a temp visa 489, work situation is dire, much worse than appeared fro UK and not likely to improve with Aussies not even having contract renewed in Gov jobs. We may have to move back to UK in next 6/12 months. We have three children, age 10 13 and 16. We have been in contact with our L.A education, not getting clear advice back. I seen to think I have read that we would still be seen as temp residence overseas in the UK, still have house rented out and bank accounts etc and have no been away for three years. We can apply for P.R, in Dec 16, it is taking up to 6 months to be assessed and we would be on 887 bridging visa B during this time. Does any one have advice for this legislative complex area. Quoll
If you went back now your kids will be fine for school - they won't be international students, they will not be charged. It'll be your eldest if they want to go to Uni that might be a bit tricky but others have made the case that the child needed to be with parents who had temporary employment overseas and that you have kept your home etc all indicates this was only ever going to be temporary. If your eldest is likely to head to Uni, it might be worth sending them back now so they can get onto the GCSE merry go round, maybe live with relatives while you gear up for a return.
