On Melbourne radio yesterday a painter called in complaining about his labour costs being undercut by foreign workers. He said a team of Chinese workers had taken a job from him by offering to paint a 3 bedroom house for $700 which was several thousand dollars below what he quoted. Parley Posted February 28, 2016 Share Posted February 28, 2016 I don't know about foreign workers but painting is the sort of job where many people will do for cash and charge a cheaper price. Any man thinks he can paint so retired people or unemployed etc will do painting jobs cheaply. Whether they do a good job though who knows. Ill be blunt and straight to you mate, I hate when people complain about their work being taken away just baing undercutting. They are the same people wants coles to drop down prices beside Woolworth is cheap or say also forth at matter. Or say they want to but their material from home hardware than binning coz home timber is cheap. this is human nature and today's economy that people want cheap labour and cheap goods but best quality. There are many other factors they ignore - courtesy,respect,and professionalism if they lack that jus coz their work is top of the range they living in a different world . being in building and construction we try helping people as well though some charge arm and a leg and we also prefer using contractors with competitive rates. So tstudy the market and get your game together and compete the market. this has been happening from 50 years since migration stated everyone needs contracts and survival so hey fight if you don't ( I mean offer value added sevices) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
