Family of two nurses and 8 month old baby - 457 visa advice

Hello,

We are a young family (25, 28 & 8 months). One UK degree trained registered adult nurse and one UK degree trained mental health nurse.

We will be looking for a temporary Australia living and working experience in the next year or two but finding it hard to know where to start.

We are looking at 457 visa for NSW or WA.

If anyone's got any advice relating to visas, nursing or family life that would be great.

Thanks.

If you are qualified nurses and have children i would look towards a PR visa rather than sponsorship. It leaves you a lot more secure once you arrive here. Hopefully one of our other members who have migrated as a nurse will be along soon with more advice.

Lots of luck with everything

We were looking at 457 as oppose to PR just due to the visa costs really. It won't be a permanent move and for PR it was looking at about £6000 in total compared to maybe £2000 for 457. Seem like pretty hefty visa costs for what will be a temporary stay.

The daycare costs are equatable to what we pay here. Is childcare subsidised depending on what visa you are on?

Thanks.

Yes it is, right now if you are PR you can claim around half back.
