Clankaroo
Hi, Does it make sense for an immigrant to move to Sydney looking for a job just before the holiday season ? Are there still some job openings (in IT) ? Thanks for your opinion
Bungo
The holiday season doesn't start in November, trouble is if you don't find something quickly, it soon will be in the holiday season. Then there wont be much movement until end January. I wouldn't move in November myself, I would rather have a last Christmas in the UK and then move end January / early February. emu
Job market dies down in Dec till mid Jan. You will need time to find a flat etc and register with recruitment agents. Maybe after Xmas would be a good time.
Guest
There will be some just now as many - if you can delay your move I would otherwise you could end up not working until Feb - we arrived 23rd Nov and I started work 9th Feb but that was by choice as I had a child and the schools didn't start back until Feb. MARYROSE02
I guess it depends on your financial situation. If you can afford to "risk" a three month holiday over the Sydney summer, then why not? You could spend those three months settling in, exploring Sydney, enjoying the summer "vibe." Have a look on http://www.seek.com.au to see what is available or contact some agencies?
