Guest Brookesy
hi i dont want to sound ignorant but the processing dates, what exactly in laymans terms does this mean?is it the total expected time it would take from the time of application to receive the visa? many thanks in advance Jeff, i think this is how it works mate: You send your main application off and you get a letter back with the date it was received ( in my case June 14th ) The processing date is the date of the applications they are looking at, currenlty April 18th to 20th for priority offshore in my case. When this processing date gets to June 14th they will be looking at mine and will give me a case officer, who will then look at my application, if everthing looks ok he will request medical and police checks. If they come back ok your out of here! Cheers

Guest hayshake
This information is great, as sometimes it seems as if the applications are lost in a stack of mail. Does anybody have any details of the time schedules at the Perth office which deals with parent applications.
Guest nico
Hello, Hayshake. I don't think they publish details for the parent visa applications, but some people seem to be reporting about a 9 month wait for a case officer, maybe even longer...... Guest Gollywobbler
Hi Brookesey Have a look at the DIMA website. They are in the process of switching the automated e-mail reply to some sort of on-line enquiry where I think you can just call up the info at any time of the day or night. I'm not sure how it works but people seem to think it will be better than the blank e-mail routine. They might be running both systems side by side at the moment - I'm not sure. http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/australia/processing-centres/adelaide-skilled.htm Try an e-mail to this on-line thing, I suggest, and then please let us know whether it works, this new system. Guest Watersports
Acknowledgment of Applications The ASPC is current experiencing some delays in receipting and acknowledging applications and regrets the inconvenience this may be causing applicants and their representatives. While this backlog exists information will be provided here about receipting. Please note that these delays do not affect the date on which a valid application is recorded as having been received and is the date used for processing purposes. As of 28 November 2006 the ASPC is receipting offshore applications received on 3rd October 2006 and onshore applications received on 23 November 2006. Please note that the update on allocation dates follows. The information will continue to updated for each Tuesday and you only need to email this mailbox once per week if you are seeking current information on allocation dates. Processing and Allocation Information The information below is updated weekly with effect on each Tuesday. As advised on the DIMA website processing of an application will usually commence within seven (7) working days of its receipt by the department. This means that an application is receipted, acknowledged and a file number is allocated. Once this has occurred a case officer is appointed to assess each application as soon as possible, however, the ASPC receives a large number of applications and you will not be contacted immediately. Applications lodged on the dates shown below are currently being allocated to case officers for further processing. As of 28th November 2006 the Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre is allocating applications lodged on or before the following dates: ONSHORE APPLICATIONS Student/Graduate Paper based applications: 10 August 2006 (subclass 880 ) and 8 August 2006 (subclass 881) and 17 August 2006 (subclass 882) E-lodged (online) applications: 28 July 2006 (all subclasses) Skilled Independent Regional (Provisional) (SIR VISA) Paper based applications: 31 August 2006 E-lodged (online) applications: 28 July 2006 New Zealand All applications: 26 April 2006 (all subclasses) OFFSHORE APPLICATIONS Applications for Classes BN, BQ and BR (subclasses 134, 136, 137, 138 and 139) Priority Applications: 8 May 2006 Non-Priority Applications: 24 April 2006 Skilled Independent Regional (Provisional) (SIR VISA) Paper based applications: 28 June 2006 E-lodged (online) applications: 21 November 2006

Guest Watersports
Well that's good news, as it sounds like they could be further ahead then they're claiming to be!
Guest gail.crease
My application was received on 31 May (and my job is on the MODL) and we've just done our medicals (yesterday). They weren't cheap! £640 including postage for two adults and two kids. I asked my case officer when I can expect to receive my visa. He said assuming all the paperwork is in order, it will be approved immediately in January . My 2 month old baby has to have an operation (nothing too serious) on 29th Jan so I had to declare it on the forms. The panel doctor reckoned they will wait until he gets the all clear before approving my visa so it'll probably be in February now. Not a problem as we weren't planning our rekkie until Easter. Good luck to everyone else!
Guest Watersports
Not sure they're even keeping to these dates as those last couple of posts shows they've been contacted and sent their applications after this date. Still, it makes me feel useful :-) ONSHORE APPLICATIONS Student/Graduate Paper based applications: 15 August 2006 (subclass 880 ) and 14 August 2006 (subclass 881) and 17 August 2006 (subclass 882) E-lodged (online) applications: 03 August 2006 (all subclasses) Skilled Independent Regional (Provisional) (SIR VISA) Paper based applications: 15 September 2006 E-lodged (online) applications: 03 August 2006 New Zealand All applications: 7 June 2006 (all subclasses) OFFSHORE APPLICATIONS Applications for Classes BN, BQ and BR (subclasses 134, 136, 137, 138 and 139) Priority Applications: from 12 May 2006 onwards Non-Priority Applications: from 28 April 2006 onwards Skilled Independent Regional (Provisional) (SIR VISA) Paper based applications: 1 August 2006 E-lodged (online) applications: 2 December 2006
Guest Watersports
So just like Brooksey, despite it saying they're working on applications received in May, we got assigned a case officer last night and have now been asked to take our medicals and police checks. Our application wasn't received until 1st August so they're definitely further ahead then they say they are Or maybe they just liked the pink paper I printed it on
