  1. Hello , while lodging my 190 application , I have noted following 2 typo in my EOI, against which I have received invitation of apply. Non AQF Major/ post Bachelor Educational qualification – Date of finishing the course was mentioned wrongly, instead of 16-March-1998 , I mentioned 6-March-1997. However I also have Bachelor’s degree for which I have claimed 15 points, so hopefully this typo isn’t significant. My ACS assessment says my experience after “November 2009” is suitable for migration purpose. I have claimed experience from 1-Nov-2009, instead of probably 1-Dec-2009. (Still thinking which one I should write?) Even with 1-Dec-2009, I have in excess of 3.5 years of relevant skilled experience (ACS assessed) till the date, I have received invitation to apply. So this error of 1 month doesn’t change my points for experience at all. What can be solution for the above errors when I lodge my visa? Should I be correcting these details while I enter them in my Visa application as my points remains same and do not change , but the above 2 fields may be different than my EOI lodged ? or Should I be enter this as per EOI lodged only? Is there any other way like lodging correction form 1023 (Can that be used for EOI corrections?) Many thanks in advance.
  2. Hi all, I have submitted my application for a 175 online on July 3rd 2011 and have read up quite a bit on the processing times etc but still have a few questions. I am a Civil Engineer on a Singapore passport, currently residing in Singapore. I have received my skills assessment from Engineers Australia and done my IELTS with a 8.5 in all modules prior to applying. Since my nominated occupation is on the SOL and I applied for a 175 I reckon I am in priority group four which currently shows an allocation date of December 1st 2010. Civil Engineering currently gives 60 pts, the highest possible on the SOL. The processing time for 175 is stated as 18 months. Accordingly I have three questions: 1. 18 months processing time - is that from the submission date onwards or from the day a CO has been allocated. 2. I have read in certain threads that although the immi.gov.au website states COs have been allocated to all application received prior to a certain date, there are some applications in that priority group from prior to that date which actually haven't been allocated a CO. So what should I expect? A CO allocated once the date hits mine or a looooong wait? 3. I have all my documents in order and will apply for my medical and police reports about 3 months prior to the allocated date hitting my application date (not too bothered about the cost if I have to redo them). If everything is in order at the time the CO is allocated incl. medical and police clearance, does this mean they will approve the application straight away or will they keep delaying and wait for the world to change? I appreciate any feedback and help. Thank you very much in advance! Btw, I recall having come across some site that allowed applicants to publish their submission dates and application status but can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find this? Thank you?
  3. Does anyone have experience of asking a school to take a child earlier than they should start. Our son will miss the cut-off for WA by 10 days and will have completed his ante-preschool year here in the UK before we move. I am aware the education system is very different and am happy to go with the flow rather than constantly comparing. Just not sure if it worth trying to get him in a year earlier as he only misses it by a few days.
  4. Hi, Our shipment is due to arrive in Oz any day now (the revised, revised arrival date!) We've been told it will take 14 working days to clear customs, which we've calculated to be approx 9th June. We've been travelling and expect to be back in Brisbane at the end of this month. We will then start searching for a rental property, but we don't know how long this will take. We don't want to pay the fee ($480) to have the goods placed into storage. Does anyone know if the shipping company (in our case Pickfords) will give us any flexibility around the delivery date?? Or will customs required the goods to be removed from their storage immediately on clearance? Thanks for any advice. Nicky

    Case Officer Allocation Dates

Hi, Has anyone sent a blank e-mail to GSM to get an update on Case Officer allocation dates? It says it's updated fortnightly, does that mean they send emails once a fortnight too? I sent one on 9th May and just wanted to check with you guys on here as I hate waiting, but I know in this process I'll have to get used to it. Thanks, Mick
  6. Just saw these on the website Practical assessment schedule (Trade Occupation) - VETASSESS Mandi
  7. Hi we are applying for 176 visa and cant remember the exact dates of previous visits to Oz. Dont have old passports etc, so how can I find out when we visited Oz 20+ years ago???? Thanks
  8. Hi there Can someone shed any light on this. We are persuing the 176 state sponsorship visa and the initial stage in the process is to have skills assessed with VETASSESS. We want to get this done well before the July deadline for changes to the visa points system. So having looked at the VETASSESS website and a schedule of assessment dates for the UK, it seems Februrary is the last date on the calender. Anyone know where to go from here? Also couldn't see where the assessment takes place, is there various locations around the country? We're in the highlands of Scotland, so long way to travel if not. Thanks for reading, hope someone has some advice.
  9. Hi, has anyone got any info on any more vetassess practical assessment dates in the UK for this year? As on the schedule I can only see dates for Jan and Feb?? Although we are still waiting on our outcome letter I am trying to figure out a realistic timeline of when would be able to apply for our visa if we are successful.
  10. Hey guys I'm trying to work out what year my boy will enter into when we make the move to Perth sometime in May and am hoping someone can confirm for me. Zac was born 28/4/04 and I think that means that he will join Year 1 halfway through for the start of Term 3. Is that right????? I'm also looking ahead for Evie (31/7/07) who I think could start Kindergarten in Feb 20012???? Am I right in thinking that rather than a Year starting in September as in the UK, Australia starts its school year in Feb? Ooooooh its all a mind boggle  Angie

    Medical dates resricting entry date

Hi all, CO assigned 176 pending and trying to get married. We frontlloaded our meds last march not realising that we would then need to enter Oz before they expire. We are hoping our visa will come through soon, fingers seriously crossed. So the question is..what is involved (assuming the visa is granted) in getting an extension on the entry date. Is there a list of circumstances that determine an extension eg. funeral, pregnancy...wedding. Also i'm contracted with work until April would that be a good enough reason for DIAC for an extension. Has anybody on the forum done this previously. Can't find info on the DIAC website. Any advice would be appreciated.
  12. Help please!! We are waiting for a 485 since Oct 2009 and have been stuck on a bridging visa (this has big school fee implications in QLD). For the last 3 months I have been sending blank emails to GSMB.Information@immi.gov.au and the processing date for 485 electronic has moved month by month for applications made July 2009, Aug 2009, Sept 2009. My email yesterday told me 11th Aug 2008, and today 18th Aug 2008. Immi were phoned today and tell me that the current date is correct - the others were wrong sorry!!! We were expecting ours to be showing in the processing dates this month and give us some financial relief from school fees soon!! Can anyone shed any light on this?? Have you had a 485 appoved recently?? Cheers
  13. Hi, I'm having to apply for a visitor's visa (for personal reasons) and the HUGE form is asking for my travel dates. I don't have these as yet as I can't plan anything until I know I'll get the visa - real catch 22! Does anyone know if I can put approximate dates in and if so, whether I'd be held to them? Also, how long the visa is generally valid for? Thanks! Simon

    School cut off dates

Hi all We are hoping to move to Brisbane area at the beginning of 2011 and I am just wondering about school years. My daughter is 14 in October so I guess she will start in year 8 in January? The problem is my son is currently in year 7 here but will not be 12 until august so I think he misses the cut off date? I really don't want him to have to drop down a year because his education is very important to him (he's a complete swot and definately doesn't get it from me!). He is currently in a Grammar school in the uk and is in the top third of his class for all subjects. Do schools in Oz ever let pupils move to the year above if the child is bright enough? This is quite important as my son's only worry about us moving is that his education won't suffer. Thanks for any help. Emma x
  15. Hi there, I'm a stay at home mum, Sophie (35) (and hubby Joe 38, teacher) and we're coming to Sydney in April for a validation trip/recce. We're staying in Drummoyne, we've got a home exchange for 5 weeks, including a car, so we're mobile. I have two children, Jeannie who is five and Eddie who will have just turned three when we arrive and I'd love to meet up with other parents with children and hear about things to do with kids in and around Sydney. Perhaps a meet up in a park or a playgroup or playcentre???? Would anyone like to meet up with us and tell us what it's all about?
  16. Hey, just need some advice regarding PMV. Me and my OH want to get married Dec 2010 and are applying for PMV at the mo, along with visa apps, moving etc etc planning a wedding is putting pressure on and is time consuming. Can we just get sum1 from here in the UK to do the paperwork to say we have booked the wedding with them for december but then change the date/location once we get to Oz (as long as its still within the 9 months obviously) ie use the celebrant here to write the letter, once we are settled in Oz, me and my mum (who lives there) can go out and really look at weddings properly and rebook? or do immigration look at this as dodgy? dont want to upset anyone ya see!

    Vetassess changing the dates

Hi people, i not happy as having waited for 2 months to see if ihad passed my first stage application for the Vetassess general plumber which i did, i tried to book up for the practical in Feb 2010, calling Melbourne 4 nights running and getting not alot of sense from some of the staff who lets say cannot speak english properly. Pinning my hopes to apply for 176 SS visa if i was to have passed the practical, dashed big time as now vetassess are not doing any practical assessments untill June 2010 and then not for General plumbers or Air Con engs or Mecahanics. Well Done not you have just set me back by at least a Year, also i live on the south coast of England and Vetassess say that the colleges will be either Accrington or bloody Glasgow and not London. Soory for the moan peoples but is any one else in this Boat! Its not on!:arghh:
  18. Hi all, I have my visa and want to emigrate at the first opportunity, but: 1) I don't know when I'll be moving out of my UK property 2) I don't know which Australian city I'll end up in 3) I don't know when I'll be leaving the UK The UK house is on the market and we might have to get out sharpish. Equally, we might get no interest and end up renting it out. When we emigrate, it's quite likely that I won't have a job sorted in advance... it'll probably be a case of speaking to agencies and employers (I've started this process already) and just heading for where the work is at that time. So... given all of this, how do we go about organising removals? Will a removals company turn up at fairly short notice, take our stuff and hold it in storage somewhere until we need it, and ship it out to a destination TBD on a date TBD? Or is it the case that they need to be scheduled in months in advance and need to know the exact destination and delivery date at the time they take our stuff? TIA Tarby
  19. My mother in law has just had her passport returned with a long stay tourist visa for 12 months granted. However, when she filled in the form she was asked what date she is going over to Austrailia (1st Feb 2010). The visa she has been given is valid for 12 months from 4th December! In the covering letter it says she must leave Austrailia on 4th December 2010. She is gutted as she wanted to spend Christmas with us next year. We applied now to avoid delays with Christmas and in case she was asked to go for a medical. Does anyone know if DIAC will amend her visa to start from the day she actually flies out? (Have tried to speak with the guy in London who processed it but hes not in!)
  20. Plumbing vetasses dates??

Hi all Just spend the last hour on the vetasses website to get some idea when the next plumbing assesment wil take place in London. There is no mention of any dates. Is anyone aware of the 2010 dates? Thanks

  23. Hi there I'll be submitting a citizenship application under the old 2-year residency rule in June 2010, but I'm wondering about the statutory deadline day quoted in the relevant legislation. Guidance on the citizenship website states "If people became permanent residents before 1 July 2007 and apply before 30 June 2010 they must have been physically present in Australia as a permanent resident for a total of two years...." etc etc. As I'm running very tight on time with my qualifying residency days I'm keen to find out whether the submission deadline is actually 29 June 2010, as the guidance states "before 30 June 2010", not "on or before 30 June 2010". I know there are no test cases because we haven't reached 30/10/2010 yet, but can any migration consultants who've worked with deadline dates in the past (and who therefore know how the immigration department applies its dates) be able to advise please? Many thanks Andy
