hi

My husband has 60points for the Skilled visa (190state sponsorship) which includes the 5points for state (as we definatly want to go to Queensland.

he is a Joiner which is on the SOL.

We are unsure whether to do IELTS to boost points?

any advice?

we already have enough points but we really want to go ASAP so was worried we may have a wait getting an EOI straight away with only 60points.

Cost for Ielts is £144 so extra money unsure whether to pay out

With 60 points, you won't be waiting long (2 weeks or so). - EDIT: assumed 190 visa process same as 189 visa - but it's slightly different

Is your husband a British citizen?

If you get IELTS and get level 7+ across reading/writing/speaking/listening, then that give you 10 points, so you could get a 189 visa (which means you could live in another state immediately if you change you mind - it also means you don't have to comply with any potential proof of how much money you have/other things - depends on state though.

yes british citizen from birth.

We are planning to go to Queensland. (gold coast area) so that's why we chose 190 visa.

You mentioned comply for potential proof of how much money you have/other things?

If its too complicated maybe the Illets might be a good idea so then we don't have to worry about all that and apply for 189

British citizen - that means you don't have to take IELTS if you don't want to (you probably already know that anyway).

Re: the proof of money:

1) Goto: http://migration.qld.gov.au/

2) Click the Skilled Visas tab

3) Click Skilled – Nominated (subclass 190) visa

4) Goto the Criteria tab half way down the page.

5) Read all the criteria
