457 Visa and ABN earning constraints?

hello there,

 

I have been on a 457 for 3 years. Im happy at work and not doing anything to risk that.

 

However I want to set up a couple of bobbie businesses up. Im aware I need to do the ABN and do all that properly. However I am concerned that this maybe a breach of my visa?

 

Can anyone help with this matter please as I finding conflicting views and no definitive answer?

If you are the main applicant then forget it. It is illegal for you to perform any work other than for your sponsoring employer. Most definitely a visa breach.

 

If you are the dependent on somebody else's visa, the it is perfectly fine.

Thanks for the quick reply. I can confirm that my 457 Visa is purely in my name. I am aware I cant work for another as a clear breach. However can you clarify that I cant have a business (non conflicting) though?

Just read about your visa. There is no grey area here. You can only perform work for your sponsoring employer. You cannot work for anyone else, including yourself.

Yep. It's black and white. You must only work for your sponsoring employer.
