Advice on Gold Coast PLEASE

Agree with earlier posts - Labrador is definately a great little spot for a quick swim and play (the beach is only small but it's part of the Broadwater so it's still water with no waves to worry about and the swimming area is a natural lagoon). Also Paradise Point is another still water beach area with a netted swimming enclosure, small sandy beach and a great park (and cafes/takeaways across the road).

If you're looking at oceanside beaches then remember the golden rule - ALWAYS SWIM BETWEEN THE RED & YELLOW FLAGS! Too many people come out here and don't appreciate the power of the Pacific Ocean... stick between the flags and always listen to the lifeguards on duty. All Gold Coast beaches are regularly patrolled - a couple of the safer options are Greenmount/Coolangatta and Currumbin Alley which both have shallower areas but again keep within the flags.

Hope this helps.

:-)

PS: also don't swim at dawn or dusk... we do have shark nets along the Gold Coast but the sneaky buggers can come in close to shore at times!!
