Wanji
Hello! I was just looking at the WHV requirements on the website of the Australian government. do you really have to provide a certified copy of your birth certificate?
Guest51810
I didn't provide that. It worries me when people mention this stuff because I don't remember reading this
Wanji
Maybe the rules recently changed? This is what's mentioned on the website; Certified copies of the biographical pages of the current passports or travel documents of all people included in the application (these are the pages with the holder's photo and personal details and the issue/expiry dates). A certified copy of your birth certificate showing both parents' names. If you do not have a birth certificate and are unable to get one, you must provide a certified copy of the identification pages of at least one of the following documents: family book showing both parents' names identification document issued by the government court-issued documents that verify your identity. [*]If your name has changed: a certified copy of evidence of the name change. [*]Two recent passport-sized photographs (45 m x 35 mm). These photographs should be of the head and shoulders only against a plain background Print the name of the person on the back of each photograph. [*]If you have served in the armed forces of any country: certified copies of military service record or discharge papers. [*]Evidence of sufficient funds: certified copy of a bank statement showing you have access to funds of at least AUD 5000
Guest51810
I'll have to pass on this one and hope someone else can answer it. I need to know too because I have to apply for my visa again because i cancelled it today due to insufficient funds
PomCop
It would only be if the Case Officer requests it. If you've got your visa granted, it's granted.
Guest51810
Good. I was worried there  I've got a bet on with someone that my visa is approved within 2 hours again
Coxy
I didn't provide those in late May, so it must just be on rare occasions where they request it.
Wanji
I didn't provide those in late May, so it must just be on rare occasions where they request it. Awesome, thank you! Would be quite a hassle to get it translated in English etc. Now nothing stands in the way of me applying :chatterbox:
Wanji
So I've applied on the 23rd. This morning I got an email saying I had to provide additional information. Have to get a chest x-Ray taken. Probably because I lived in Uganda for a bit 5 years ago. Hopefully everything will be fine!
Guest51810
Yeah it'll just be because of that, I remember seeing that mentioned. I applied for my new one on the 22nd and no news yet
Wanji
So I got the chest x-ray taken yesterday. This morning I got an email that I have to provide a certified copy of my passport. Will a scanned copy be ok? Seems like a lot of trouble just to have to get it certified....
Alix Fisher
Hi - A scanned copy should be sufficient. NEVER send primary copies of anything unless they email/ring you and ask for it. I wouldn't worry :-)
Wanji
I send them a scanned copy of my passport. Just hope they will give me the damn visa already. Jealous of all those people who got their visa in 24 hours haha

americanwoman
Hi Wanji - Where are you from? I looked at your profile, but couldn't find it. I didn't have to show my birth cert for the WHV - it was just simply apply online and get a confirmation email. I'm American. Hope that helps! Wanji
I'm from the Netherlands. I also didn't have to show them my birth certificate. Only had to get a chest X-ray taken and upload a copy of my passport. After this I got my visa!

Joanne Shannon
My visa was granted within an hour too, but we applied for my boyfriends at the same time and his took 3 days to come back, and says they require a certified copy of his passport! Does anyone know how long it's likely to take once we send that to them?
