  2. Awesome!! Thats ridiculously fast!
  3. So I quit my job today. Best feeling ever haha! probably will fly to Perth at the end of October!
  4. I'm from the Netherlands. I also didn't have to show them my birth certificate. Only had to get a chest X-ray taken and upload a copy of my passport. After this I got my visa!
  5. Got my conformation email. Visa has been granted. Now I have to quit my job and hopefully I'll be able to leave for Australia in late October. Exciting times ahead!!
  6. I send them a scanned copy of my passport. Just hope they will give me the damn visa already. Jealous of all those people who got their visa in 24 hours haha
  7. So I got the chest x-ray taken yesterday. This morning I got an email that I have to provide a certified copy of my passport. Will a scanned copy be ok? Seems like a lot of trouble just to have to get it certified....
  8. So I've applied on the 23rd. This morning I got an email saying I had to provide additional information. Have to get a chest x-Ray taken. Probably because I lived in Uganda for a bit 5 years ago. Hopefully everything will be fine!
  9. Awesome, thank you! Would be quite a hassle to get it translated in English etc. Now nothing stands in the way of me applying :chatterbox:
  10. Maybe the rules recently changed? This is what's mentioned on the website; Certified copies of the biographical pages of the current passports or travel documents of all people included in the application (these are the pages with the holder's photo and personal details and the issue/expiry dates). A certified copy of your birth certificate showing both parents' names. If you do not have a birth certificate and are unable to get one, you must provide a certified copy of the identification pages of at least one of the following documents: family book showing both parents' names identification document issued by the government court-issued documents that verify your identity. [*]If your name has changed: a certified copy of evidence of the name change. [*]Two recent passport-sized photographs (45 m x 35 mm). These photographs should be of the head and shoulders only against a plain background Print the name of the person on the back of each photograph. [*]If you have served in the armed forces of any country: certified copies of military service record or discharge papers. [*]Evidence of sufficient funds: certified copy of a bank statement showing you have access to funds of at least AUD 5000
  11. Hello! I was just looking at the WHV requirements on the website of the Australian government. do you really have to provide a certified copy of your birth certificate?
  12. Keep up the good work and updating this thread. Interesting read!
  13. So I wanna fly out on the 2nd of december. I first wanted to go already in september and start in Cairns but some stuff came up and I had to delay the trip. Now Im ready to go but dont know where to start since it´ll be wet season in Cairns and Im in desperate need of sunshine. I´ve been thinking about starting in either Perth or Melbourne. I´m not really the kind of person to work in a bar or cafe and I prefer the outdoors. What would you guys recommend me? Thanks!
  14. Im thinking about coming out next month. Looking forward to see some updates as well.
  15. I just think it's such a pity when you're in a room full of people from all parts of the world with loads of interesting stories and everyone is still just emailing home. Talking about the same old same old. And Australia is probably full of hostels with these kind of people and i think it's a shame.
  16. Just taking my iphone. Hate it when you're in a hostel and everyone in the common room is looking at their laptopscreens/phones. So i'll try to not really use it, when not necessary
  17. Well if I would go to the US or Israel it would be a big problem. But i'm happy to hear it won't be a problem. Thanks!
  18. And what about the iranian visa? Would immigration make a big deal out of it?
  19. I'm a nurse. Just seems too much of a hassle to get registered at the Nursing Board with the medical check you have to do (and for me also the english proficiency test). You have to do it at the Nursing board of each state you want to work in. Don't know if other nurses did go on a WHV and how easy it is to get a job.
  20. Why do you wanna do it in NSW in january? More jobs available at that time of year?
  21. Since I came home last summer after traveling in Georgia, Armenia and Iran, I've been thinking about my next big trip. Australia popped into my head immediatly. I graduated two days ago and with the shitty economy and lack of jobs it's the perfect timing for me to get my WHV and catch a plane to Oz. I haven't booked my flight yet but i'm thinking of arriving in Cairns sometime in September so I can go and look for some regional work. Do you guys think Cairns is the best place to start during that time of year or would you advise a different place? I dont like big cities so I don't want to spend a lot of time in Sydney. What about bankaccounts, which bank has the most atm's and not only in big cities but also in smaller towns? How about simcards for my mobile. Which provider has the best coverage around country? I have an Iranian visa in my passport. Do you guys think I will get in some trouble with immigration? I have a Dutch passport. Or do you guys think it's a good idea to get a new passport? This one is still valid untill june 2015. The distances in between places in Oz are huge. I probably want to cover them by public transport. As I'm not in a rush, would you get a Greyhound pass or just buy tickets for each trip you want to make? Any other general advise? Thanks!
  22. Probably sometime in september in Cairns.
