Norma
Hi. Husband was told yesterday by colleague at his work that, when he was in Oz on a 457 (don't know where/when), he had to pay additional tax toward his child's education at a state school. Apparently, the additional tax will only be required whilst you are not permanent. The sooner we apply (2 years into the 457) for PR the better, because once approved, the additional tax requirement will stop. Is this correct? Suzukiscottie
Some states do have a considerable fee for state school education of temporary residents. I know Victoria doesn't.
Dafydd OWen
NSW does 5k or 6k per child per year depending on what year they are in. It's not a tax though, just a fee.

In some states they charge a fee for schooling for temporary visa holders. It is not a tax though and depending what state you are in, there may or may not be a fee.
