Hi, I've been looking to emigrate to queensland in a similar position as yourself. After much research I have found out that occupation 'childcare group leader' is on the regional sponsorship occupation list therefore if you can get an employer in a regional area to sponsor you, you can apply for this visa. I contacted a agent in australia for more information and this was their reply

'The occupation of childcare group leader is on the 187 list. It is a

skill level 2 meaning you need a relevant level Diploma to meet the

criteria.

The 187 is a permanent visa option if you have an employer willing to

nominate you for a position in regional Australia and you can meet the

criteria. The position can only be in regional Australia (regional

Australia does not include the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Newcastle,

Sydney, Wollongong or Melbourne).

· The employee must be nominated by an employer for a

full time ongoing position with the business working in a Regional

Area, which is offered for at least 2 years.

· The employer must have an office in the regional area

of Australia you will be nominated to work in.

· It is a condition of this visa that the employee

remain employed in the regional area you are nominated to work in for

a minimum of two years from the date the visa is granted. If not, DIAC

has the ability to cancel the visa.

· The employer would have to do some labour market

testing to demonstrate that no suitable Australian can be found for

the position, we will explain the criteria in more detail if you

proceed.

· There is no training criteria for the employer to meet

for this visa subclass, however, if the nominating business is

approved as a 457 sponsor they will need to show that they have met

the training criteria.

· If the employer is prepared to nominate for a Subclass

187 visa, the employee should be able to secure Australian permanent

residency and ultimately Australian citizenship.

· A skills assessment will not be required for the nominated role.

· We would need to demonstrate that the position is a

genuine position and that you would be employed in the role.

Please call me to discuss further if you can find an employer in a

regional area willing to help then we can discuss the position and

skills required.

Thank you for your reply. Do you know if anywhere in Western Australia does the sponsorship? My partner is from Mandurah and i was hoping to return to that area.

Many thanks

As far as I know all of Western Australia is classed as a regional area so as long as you can get an employer to sponsor you, you will be able to apply for the visa. Maybe send your CV to the local childcare centres and ask if they do sponsorship. There is an agency based over there called Randstad Education Australia and they deal with childcare vacancys and some of them willing to sponsor.

Just a quick update Swimmy, I have had a response from Randstad education and they have advised that they do have sponsorship roles in regional areas and they have asked for a copy of my CV, so maybe something for you to look into.
