gabek1225
Hello Again, Im a assistant general manager at a resort but I have a side business were I fix air condition systems and etc. I have been doing it for about 2 years now, but I don't have a degree from that trade. Lets say I enroll in an online trade school pennfoster.edu and complete a degree in HVAC which is on the SOL. Would that meet my eduction requirement? Thanks
VERYSTORMY
You dont need a degree, but you normally need either to be a qualified tradesperson, or have significant enough experience instead - 2 years would not be enough

VERYSTORMY
What if I get a degree from an online trade school? pennfoster.edu Thanks Again I would very much doubt that an online course is going to be recognized by immi - they are looking for genuine qualifications equivalent to a 3-4 year apprenticeship or sufficient experience in the role - full time. The school is nationally accredited and recognized. If I attend a college for that trade its not going to be more than 2 semesters (fall and summer semester 6 months at most). Should I contact an immigration attorney ? I have experience but no diploma !
VERYSTORMY
It may be recognized in the USA. But, in the world outside it is (rightly) a fake college, selling qualifications that no right person would want you to work as - would you want someone who had done an on line electrical course, work on your home or a time served specialist? You may be worth speaking to a good agent as your role in management might be a better option. Look up Go Matilda
Ozmaniac
The first step if you want to apply for a visa is to get a positive skills assessment from the authority responsible for assessment of your occupation. If the SOL occupation you have in mind is Airconditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic (ANZSCO code 342111), the authority responsible for assessment is TRA and there is no way they would accept a 6 (or even 12) month online course as acceptable. Here's a link to their website so you can see for yourself: http://www.tradesrecognitionaustralia.gov.au/Programs/Migration/Pages/default.aspx TRA Migration Skills Assessment

We all know american education system is bad. If I attend school psychically for that trade it would take a max of 6 months with no hand on training because its not required ( that at a local college). If I do it online it would be the exact same thing but without physically going. Do you think an migration officer can answer the question for me? Thanks You for your reply

Thanks You for your reply TRA is the decision maker on what qualifications are acceptable for any trade which they assess. If you can't meet their requirements, you won't get as far as a 'migration officer'. I think a quick read of their requirements will tell you that the 6 month course you have in mind will not be enough. AFAIK, you would need to do a course through one of TRA's Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) with Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for you to gain qualifications in a short course that they would accept. inozwriter
First make sure that the course is recognized by immigration, best to stick to TAFE or public universities for this.
