Ozmaniac
He must notify DIBP of his change of circumstances but his 489 visa was granted to him in his own right and is not reliant on him staying with the main applicant. As long as he lives and works in a regional and low population-growth metropolitan area (if the 489 is state sponsored) or designated area (if family sponsored), he will becoming eligible to apply for a Skilled Regional visa (subclass 887) when he has met the eligibility requirements to do so i.e. he must live in the eligible area for at least 2 years and work full time (or the equivalent of full time in a combination of part time jobs) in ANY occupation for at least 1 year. Applicants for an 887 must hold a 489 or another qualifying visa, but they can have been either a main OR secondary applicant for that visa. http://www.immi.gov.au/forms/Documents/1022.pdf Change of Circumstances Form 1022 http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/887.aspx Skilled Regional visa (subclass 887)
