Mandy R
Hi all, We applied for our 457 visa through a migration agent on the 12th February and have not heard anything back yet. I have seen that some people applied after us and have had the visa granted. Anybody still waiting? Thank you
Ozmaniac
Did the employer already have sponsorship approval? If not, that can be a major cause of delay. Has the nomination been approved? That can be another cause of delay. The 457 usually comes quite quickly after the nomination is approved.

koala2015
What does it means that sponsor has sponsorship approval and position approval? Can he now nominate me for that specific position and how long I have to wait for nomination approval ?
MaggieMay24
There are 3 steps in the 457 visa. 1) the employer becomes an approved sponsor 2) the employer lodges and receives an approved nomination 3) the applicant lodges and receives an approved visa Once the employer lodges their sponsorship application, they can also lodge the nomination. How long you have to wait is a bit like asking how long is a piece of string. The sponsorship can take 4-12 weeks or perhaps even longer. The nomination can take 4-8 weeks or perhaps even longer.
