i am looking for some general advice.

i am currently a financial/mortgage advisor in England and want to make the move to Oz, we are going to an emigration event on Sunday but looking to get some help on whether it is feasible and how best to go about it. Any tips or advice would be much appreciated.

You have to have a skill that is on either the SOL or the CSOL list. If financial or mortgage advisor is not on either of those lists then there is no way. You may be able to go on a working holiday visa if you are under 30 but this will only be for 1 year or 2 if you can work 3 months regionally.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

I'm afraid that moving to Australia on a long term basis is not going to be easy. From what you've told us, the closest eligible occupation would probably be Financial Investment Adviser (ANZSCO code 222311) but that is only on the CSOL and so is only eligible for state or employer sponsored visas.

Two states (WA and SA) are willing to offer sponsorship for that occupation but both have special and difficult to meet conditions for eligibility. Among other things, WA requires that you have a job offer of at least 12 months full time employment. SA requires that you have been working in the state for 12 months or that you have a grandparent, parent or sibling who is a citizen or PR living in SA. For any state sponsored visa, you must have 60 points on the points test and a positive skills assessment from VETASSESS which requires that you have a degree and 1-5 years of highly relevant work experience.

If you can't get state sponsorship, that leaves employer sponsorship as the only option and it's not easy to find sponsorship from overseas.

If you're under 31 and can come for 12 months on a Working Holiday visa, working in your field during that time will probably provide your best chance of finding an eligible employer who is willing to sponsor you or it might provide the opportunity to meet state nomination requirements.

Hi as previous posters have said it is not easy. You need to look at both skilled occupation list and see which ANZSCO code you fit. As previously said the closest in investment advisor but this is heavily re;ated to dealing with stocks and shares etc which I assume as a mortgage advisor you don't do. So the first thing you need to do it check you match a role as you will need to do a skills assessment to prove you do all of those duties listed in the ANZSCO code. If you do not have a role on either list migration will not really be possible.

If you do have a job on either list then you need to look at points score. You need to be under 50 for the typical migration visas and need to score 60 points. These points come from ages, qualification, years of experience etc. Look at the Immi website and see how you would make 60 points.

You mention "we", so is there a partner and what is their occupation?
