Lopindo,

Hey we are expecting a grant in the next 3 weeks or so and are looking at moving to the Noosa area. What has your experience been like thus far? We are binging 4 children ages 17yof, 13yom, 11yom and 9yom. Any feedback on areas to live or what schools you like would be SWEET!

Hi,

Hope you will get it soon. You will love the area, its beautiful here.

Wont help with schools for bigger kids but in Noosa they are two state primary schools- one in Sunshine Beach and one in Tewantin. My daughter is in Sunshine Beach one. Think they are more friendly and you wont have any problems with enrolment. Only one thing you could do is to take any reports from your school. It would be easier to put kids to right class not only accoring to their age. My daughter was in primary two in uk, when we moved here in jan, school year just started and she started again primary two (grade one here). She is ahead of other kids and personally think higher class would be better but its to late for moving her. Your kids have done even more so think its worth to ask at your school.

You need to prepare that everything is expensive here. Grocery shopping as twice as much as in uk. You need to get car asap. It cheaper to use car than bus cos tickets are very expensive. Kids can use schools buses but im not sure if you dont need to pay for it, think it depends what kind of visa you have.

What else. For fist week we stayed at the apartments Noosa Terrace & Belmondos. It was ok, not great but cheap. And during that week we were looking for place to rent. The best place to look for something is realestate.co.au. You need to be prepare to have 4 weeks rent for deposit.

Think thats all. If you have any other questions let me know. Will be happy to help. Im sure you will setlle down quickly. My daughter doesnt want to hear now about coming back to scotland haha.

Lopindo,

Thanks for all of the info. We can't wait to get there and get going. Can you tell me about the lifestyle? I have imagined this fanciful, board shorts and flip flops life there in Noosa. (that's how it was on vacation there) and I'm wondering how long that feel lasts. Do you still go for strolls on the beach? What do you and your family do for fun? Have you been 4x4ing on the north shore area? Have you tried out the local golf courses? I know work is going to be work and life (school, sports and the rest of normal life) goes on as usual but ..... How's the rest of it, the reason for moving to Noosa? Everything you thought it would be???

Hi,

Lifestyle is great, we are out all the time. You feel like on holidays all the time :) Weather is still great and you dont feel it autum at all. Only thing its getting dark very early about 6pm so after school or work you dont have lots of time now to go out but we try to be out every day to near play park with my daugther. Weekends are great,we are or on the beach (which is beautiful) or we going to see places. We like to walk a lot, Noosa National Park is great. We also have been in couple of other places like tin can bay to feed doulphins, rainbow beach, kandalila waterfalls and Australia zoo. To the zoo you can get annual pass for about 100 dollars and you have unlimited entry. We loved it and we are planning to go there again during easter time.

For kids you have so many sports to choose, soccer, tenis, surfing whatever you want. It might be hard to get place in the middle of term but you can always put your name for waiting list. My daughter after i want to go back home for couple of days doesnt want to hear about going back now haha.

We dont play golf so i wont help you with that. We would like to rent 4x4 car and go fraser island soon. Will let you know how it was :)

And yeah everything is just as i thought about lifestyle. Outdoor living, beach, barbeques everywhere. Other things are not so great but you cant have everything ;)

My daughter only dissappointment was no koalas and kangaroos everywhere hahaha

Do you plan to come straight ater you get visa? It will be good to meet :)

Oh and I just noticed you are from USA not from UK ;)

Ya, I'm an American/Canadian (dual Citizenship).

It sounds like the life for sure. I'll have to look you guys up when we get there and we'll do a BBQ. My wife and I have 4 kids we're bringing with us. We are all scuba divers and like to fish, camp, 4x4 and spend a lot of time outdoors. We love Noosa for the active outdoor lifestyle. We're hoping to get our visa in the next few weeks and then move over in June or July. Can't wait! We sure have a good life here in The States but are looking to have a new adventure.

Just saw you want to go to Fraser Island, great place, only spent 3days/2nights but would have loved to stay longer. Love where you live as well, great place Noosa, my Aunty and grandmother used to live there, near the golf course, they have passed away now but my uncle, by marriage, still lives there, in Tewantin now.

Bingo! That's the attitude..... And when you get sick of the costs of everything (unless you are in Nor Cal now) then you can go back... Best of both worlds I think is the saying..... :-)
