Competancy Demonstration Report- Draftsman 312511

Hello

Mechanical Engineers Draftsman 312511

I have no degree and so am required to submit a Competancy Demonstration Report to Engineers Australia. The trouble is, although I have read the guidelines and associated documents, it still all seems very Engineer orientated. Does anyone have any advice or can share experiences for a draftsman pursuing this route?

Thank you

I got some advice from a CDR specialist and was told to use Engineer Australias pre-assessment service. I have an HNC in mechanical engineering and over 5 years of experience as a mechanical draftsman. It's as though you need an engineering degree to even work as a draftsman in Australia, am I wrong? Has anyone reading sucessfully had their draftsman skills assessed by Engineers Australia?

No u don't need a degree to work as a draughtman ...u will more than likely be assessed to work in Australia skill level two ...my hubby know a couple of people with hnc and work as draughtsman :) you will have to do CD-R ...there will be people who have had their draughtman skills successfully assessed by EA ...but ya carnt really go off that because everyone's different ...do ya homework and talk to a good migration agent Mara registered . Make sure they good though lol

Google viacorp.com and take a look at that, they help people with CD-R but just take a look lol :)

Thanks Shellybingobingo

It was viacorp that suggested I use Engineers Australias pre-assessment service to see if it is worthwhile having my skills assessed. I think they have looked at my CV and not understood that I want to assess my role as a draftsman (which I have more experience) and not that of an engineer.

Contact EA then and see what they say :) u have nothing to lose by doing so :)

Hi,

You appear to be suffering from the same hassle I have.

Engineering Australia changed the rules from an HNC to a minimum HND qualification during my application, paid my fees to the migration "experts" and got my application rejected at the first hurdle.

Engineering Australia didn't care that I served my time with a Global company OR look at my 10years experience.

Anyway for me to get to the point did you establish a route to go without seeking a degree then gaining sufficient experience?

As far as I am concerned my only route to Australia now is either via a job offer or complete the degree I have now started :(.

Any info would be much appreciated, cheers

Scott
