clareli
Apologies if this thread has been done numerous times before, I'm new to this forum. My husband and I are moving to Melbourne at the end of Jan for a year. We have opened an account with ANZ and one with TorFx. We will have to move some money back to the UK every month to cover direct debits that will be leaving our UK account. Does anyone know if I will be able to set up regular transfers from ANZ to Natwest in the UK online or do I need to set something up through TorFx to cover these payments every month? Which would tend to be the cheapest way? Also as an aside, how easy is it to get a credit card in Oz? Any ideas which would be the best one (we have one here in the UK that we pay off in full each month)....... Many thanks for any replies....... wakeboard1980
I think you would be best using a foreign exchange company to transfer the money, I think you will get a better rate and cheaper fees. Try moneycorp on here. credit cards will need a credit rating first, so would imagine it would be a little difficult at first.
xxlornaxx
we got credit card straight away and approved for a large loan (which we didn't take) when we first arrived, it appears to be easier to get in debt here than UK! We just got credit card with westpac as we bank with them
NickyNook
credit cards will need a credit rating first, so would imagine it would be a little difficult at first. They don't need a credit rating first. As long as applicants have a regular income and no other debt, then most new migrants will qualify for a credit card.
