Marisawright
Once upon a time, tea chests were the most common way of shipping small personal effects. So common, in fact, that it was really easy to compare costs because almost every shipper quoted a fixed price per tea chest. They were about the same size as a big removalists' box, but made of plywood with metal reinforced corners so they were much tougher than a cardboard box, and therefore you could feel a lot more comfortable about stuff not getting damaged. I see people have posted about sending tea chests on these forums, but I'm assuming they weren't "real" tea chests, just the cardboard equivalent? I have never seen them advertised in Australia. I wish I could still get a couple of them to send some stuff ahead!
