ChrisJD
I'm going to be setting off on my travels in a couple of weeks with a year in Australia being one of my first stops. I was just wondering if I should change some cash before I leave, or just transfer money to my Oz bank account and using my current debit card etc? Thanks
MARYROSE02
Just as well to have a couple of hundred dollars in your wallet, just in case you can't find an ATM, and you are in a place that is 'cash only' like the Thai restaurant I went to amongst the hostels in Pitt St, last night. Nearlythere1
Be careful with your smartphone if your doing internet banking etc, when staying in hostels. My daughter was asked by an English girl to borrow her phone for 5 mins, to contact a friend who'd been in an accident. She'd lost hers apparently, the girl changed all my daughters email passwords and applied for password changes to her banking, then stripped all the money from her account.. Only took 5 mins, luckily she was with our other daughter, otherwise she 'd have been stuck in Kuala Lumpur without a penny.. Sure it doesn't happen often, just be wary.. Enjoy your trip..
JonathonS
No need to do it before you get there. Just put money in your Australian bank account and use that, or your credit/debit card from your bank back home.
