PeteJM164
Hi, my partner and I are about to lodge our 189 visa. Can some give us advice on how we prove our relationship. We have been together almost 8 years but only had a joint account for the last few months. We have joint post such as council tax demands, polling cards, numerous flight tickets from the last few years. Will these be sufficient ?? Guest
How long have you actually been living together? As in de facto like a married couple? You don't need to have joint bank account. What you need is to be able to show you actually both reside together at the same address, share a life together. So bank accounts from each of you will statements to the same address for this will show that. As will most other bills to either of you. Does not have to name both of you on them, one or the other is fine. Named driver on the car insurance, will or life insurance policy, it is all good. Benc
Hi Pete, The document checklist for a Partner visa on the DIBP website outlines a range of documents that you could include in your application to satisfy the decision maker that you are in a de facto relationship with your partner. Good luck with the application. Regards, Ben.
