AJ
They are responsible for return flights but not for anything else like shipping furniture or pets. That is up to you to pay.
Pumpkin
Hi We arrived in Melbourne in January, so far we are loving it here and have/had no plans to return to the UK. Last night we received some news totally out of the blue, we don't want to go back but we need to explore all avenues. I read on the Immi website that the employer is liable for not just my flight back but also my wife & daughter even though they paid for my flight to get here. I thought I read a long time ago that the employer is also liable for shipping costs, I can find no mention of this so maybe it's no longer the case? Hopefully we don't have to go back and we can stay here. I'd appreciate any advice. Never was the case. Flights only.
Joebloggs
The only reason why employers are liable to pay for flights to leave is so the employees have no excuse for not leaving and immigration footing the bill to deport them, shipping costs for belongings, furniture and pets are not important to Dept of immigration.... getting rid of people who have no further use is.
