Hostel recommendation?

Hey guys,

 

Just looking to book up my first week for when I arrive in Sydney and was hoping for some feedback on good hostels. I preferably want something reasonably priced, but somewhere that isn't absolutely filthy... I've seen a few people mention Bounce? Also I was looking at Sydney Central Backpackers which looks like it could be a good option. Any recommendations forms experience would be great though!

Jackaroo is great for location and cleanliness and it's pretty sociable but it's expensive.

Maze is super cheap, sociable, walkable to anywhere central but a bit scummy round the edges. It's cleaner than other pricier places I stayed though so for the price it's acceptable.

Heard good things about Jolly Swagman too.

Im sad to say that it's unreal how much these places can charge given the level of cleanliness. It's not a case of getting what you pay for always but generally the more expensive places are a bit tidier. You just have to adjust your levels of what's acceptable lol

I've just booked a week @ Bounce for October, it's the no1 so I thought its a safe bet

Yeah, it seems lots of hostels in Sydney are high-priced due to how expensive Sydney is, but they also aren't all that great.

 

When I arrive in 3 weeks, I'm booked at the Sydney Harbour YHA for the first week. Probably the most expensive hostel in Sydney at 45-50 a night, but it looks really nice and I plan on moving right into an apartment after that first week anyway.
