Juliep
how long is it taking for partner visa once application as been submitted thanks
MovingtoTasmania
If applying at the London High Commission, the wait is now 10-14 months for a Partner visa. The baby (from your other thread) can be added to the Partner visa instead of having to apply for a Dependent Child Visa.
Juliep
if the partner and baby travelled to oz on a tourist visa an applied in oz would this make it easier ?
Juliep
what if they applied on line is it quicker ?
MovingtoTasmania
The problem with travelling to Aus on the TV and then applying is that the TV could come with a no further stay restriction so that's risky. The benefit would be that the partner would be put on a bridging visa and thus may be able to work but the processing times are longer. Applying offshore in the UK either online or paper doesn't affect processing times and I think you can only do online applications now. Guest
If the baby is eligible for AUS citizenship by descent I'd get that and not put them on the partner visa application. There really is no need to include them on the application if they are eligible for AUS pp in their own right. It only takes about 6 weeks all up to organise that side of things. If you apply for a 3 month tourist visa you can see when it's granted re restrictions and then decide from there if you want to apply onshore. Guest
what if they applied on line is it quicker ? No, it's not. Off shore is now 10-14 months, on shore 13 months plus on average.
Alan Collett
Onshore applications provide access to an appeals mechanism in the event that your application is unsuccessful. Also, a Bridging Visa would be issued which would allow you to remain lawfully in Australia pending a final decision on your visa application - and you could reasonably expect there to be no condition restricting your ability to work: applicants for partner visas can generally plan to work once the BV comes into effect. Best regards.
Juliep
my daughter as PR not citizenship so will have to apply for visa with partner
MovingtoTasmania
If your daughter already has PR then she doesn't need to apply for a visa with her partner. She will need to sponsor the partner and the child for their visas as she is the PR. The child can be put on the partner visa, which is cheaper I think then applying for a partner visa and a child visa separately.
