Hello Everyone,

Regular visitor to this website and cant say enough- how useful this forum is.

Need some help from experts.

1. Can I take IELTS after I submit my EOI ? I am ticking NO for IELTS in the form so no points for english Language but if this can be added based on my result ?? I have everything ready apart from IELTS and Medicals/ACRO.

2. I am scoring 60 points and one important component is my work experience of 10 years. I have all the pay slips and most of P60 and letters from employers stating my salary and job title and duration of work. Will that be enough or I need to add anything else ??

3. What is the average time from EOI to Visa Grant - this is quite crucial as I have to start Job in Australia in December. Signed a contract last month.

4. Will it help to attach Contract to the visa application?

Sorry for a long post. I hope I will be a regular member here now,

Have you had a skills assessment to confirm you truly qualify for 10 years experience? In a lot of occupations, the assessment requires a combination of education + working experience so 10 years may suddenly become 8 or even 6. I don't know much about EOI so can't help much with the other questions.

Take IELTS before you submit your EOI if you want the point for English language. I think the higher the score, the quicker you receive an invite. My two cents is that given your score of 60 at the moment, depending on the occupation, you may have to wait a while until you get invited anyway.

The current visa processing time for 189 is 3 months. I don't know if anyone has to wait longer. However, is your employer able to sponsor you for a 457 in case your 189 doesn't come through in time?

Hi Maggie - Thanks for highlighting the issues with Work experience. I always thought that skill assessment is only for Qualifications and not the work experience. I am under the impression that documents to prove that you worked for 10 years or more is enough. Please correct me if I am wrong here.

Moreover I have a solid experience of working as a doctor since 2001 and I guess we do not need the standard skill assessment - registration with AMC through specialist pathway Justifies our skills. . Please see the link

Thanks Sissi for your reply. I will wait to get my IELTS score before I file my application.
