Renting a property with no job

Hi

Now we have the visa we're all systems go to head to Australia.

How would we go about getting a rental property? We'll be going out without jobs, which will obviously mean that until we secure employment, we'll have no income coming in. Would we be able to secure one based on our savings if we produce bank statements (will be fairly decent as selling house in UK for a hefty profit)? Holiday lettings are a lot more expensive p/w than renting, so we'd be eager to get into a rental asap.

Thanks for any advice anyone can give!!

Yes you would need to show savings as evidence you can pay.

The majority of new arrivals don't have jobs straight away, so you're not alone. As already mentioned proof of the funds should be sufficient.

Short term holiday lets are not cheap, but from experience with both ourselves when we first arrived and new arrivals in our unit 3-4 weeks is a good time frame to be able to find something after researching areas and not hurrying to find a long term rental that you might regret later.

i saw a couple who just arrived from UK at a property viewing day (rent). The agent said there weren't any issue to rent the house if you pass the assess which is the same as locals, like your previous property references in UK. Because you are newly arrival, more likely you can get a rent with proving the finance situation as others said :)

If you start finding a place to live, you should be better to consider the work place too ... some dodgy areas would be hard to get a job, transport troubles etc
