Tomthepom1
Hi. I live in St Albans, no where near Staffordshire, but here's my thoughts, figures in £: TV (Freeview) = free - very good for free viewing TV (satellite/cable) = between 20 and 45pm depending on package TV License =12pm Internet = 15pm Land line phone = 12pm I'd like to say at this point that there are a lot of package providers who combine all tv, Internet & land line phone. Deals range from 30 to 50pm water = approx 25pm Elec & gas = 80pm but depends on what accommodation you are in Groceries = 100per week (we are family of 3 inc 2yr old) Mobile phone = 20 - 35pm depending on package contents insurance = 25pm but depends on level of cover Health ins = free, if you want to rely on nhs. Private medical usually comes with job, but I don't know how much this wouldd be to pay for privately. Car running cost = we have 1 car (slightly sporty) tax=250pa, Ins=450 fully comprehensive but depends on how many years no claims, petrol (no commuting)=120pm life insurance depends on your age and some medical questions so cant advise Public transport = 230pm for a commute (30 min) into London. Busses are about 6 for an average return journey I think that covers it. cheers. Tom

M1cha3la
Hi, We moved from Staffordshire to Leicestershire last year. Prices are pretty similar in both countys we have found. There is two of us in a 4 bed new build. We pay per month: Gas & Elec £95 Water £35 TV Licence £13 Sky (includes broadband, TV and Phone) £95 Council Tax £220 Life insurance £17 DH also has unemployment insurance which is £40 a month. Mobile phones £50 We have phone/travel/car breakdown insurance through bank £5 a month. Food shopping £300 - £600 depending on big shop or little shop Petrol/diesel £300 (I work local, but DH travels alot) Car insurance £800 for two cars per year. My road tax is £120ish for a 1.6 Mini.. House building and contents insurance £250 per year. We also have to pay a green fee, which is pretty standard on new estates for them to come in a maintain the shared green areas. Thats £120 a year. Thats not even including the mortgage... No wonder I feel poor :twitcy: Not used public transport in ages, but the train from Lichfield to Birmingham for example is around £5 each way off peak the last time I checked. Leicester to London peak time is £140 return. Hope that helps. X
