robbyinperth
Hi does anybody know if your employer has to advertise your position to the local market when applying for a transition visa 457 to 186. I understand you do when applying the direct way. 187 Thanks in advance
blossom
First off, which visa are you talking about the 186 or the 187? But no, I don't believe they have to for either if them if you are applying for the transitional steam.
robbyinperth
Thanks for the reply. I will be looking to change my 457 to a 186 this year. A friend applied for a 187 and his company had to advertise his job. He was not transitional though so hope this is not the case for me. Can't seem to find any info. blossom
The 187 is quite a bit different. And as you say, if it is direct entry it is a bit different. Good luck.

For a subclass 187 visa, the appointment needs to be approved by the relevant Regional Body. Each regional body has their own requirements with many asking for Labour Market Testing. This is not the case for a subclass 186.
