richard300
Hi, My wife mentioned to me the other day, that for her to get work - she is a Specialist diabetes Nurse (and trainer) who works in the community. Our best bet, is to base ourselves in Mount Gambier (as opposed to Adelaide).... Anyone have any experience of this City (I believe its a city)? And does it have any other industry - Sometimes I think she forgets that I need work too!! I understand its about 450KM away from Adelaide? How far away is it from 'a day at the beach'? Does the 'wildlife' activity step up a notch in comparison to the suburbs of Adelaide? Thanks, Richard.
kellyv
Its supposed to be beautiful. About half way between Adelaide and Melbourne on the great ocean road. No idea re: work opportunities though. Good luck :-)
T-bone
I love the old NFSA films. If you want a laugh, or to see what it was like in the 60's, check this one out on Mount Gambier...
Jacaranda
My parents lived in Mt Gambier for a year, due to Dad's work.I babysat their house whilst they were away.My parents loved living there!!!I visited occasionally, and really liked it too.I think its good you're considering other area's of SA myself. Most people do head to the city/burbs and really there is so much more to SA!Mt Gambier has a nice main street, good sporting facilities, nice old fashioned pubs,(not sure about the schools?)and cheaper real estate!......http://www.realestate.com.au/buy/in-mount+gambier/list-1?preferredState=sa I prefer rural living in Oz as opposed to burbs anyday!I guess the only negative is you could be quite a drive from the nearest airport, should you wish to jet off somewhere? garyupnorth
Mt Gambier is lovely, we stopped off there on our way to Hamilton, Vic. There's the lake in a volcano creator as as posted earlier you can do Adelaide and Melbourne in each direction in about 5 hours. Not too sure about living and working there but it is a lovely place on first impressions.
rossco2810
its the second biggest town/city in South Australia..........................but its a lot lot smaller than Adelaide, 1million vs 25,000. Its more of a small town & is pretty isolated from bigger cities & associated services, transport (450km from Adelaide & its not motorway driving remember), shops etc etc. Its nice enough to visit but if you are not used to small town living i think it would be a huge culture shock.
