travelchic
Hi all. Can anyone help me. I have a friend who is looking to apply for a visa with her husband and kids. Her first child is from a previous relationship and he has no contact with his father and he is not named on his birth cert. how would she get around this dilemma. i appreciate that this can be a sensitive issue, but if anyone has been through this or knows how to resolve it, could you please help me and my friend. I don't mind if you want to pm me instead of posting on a forum. Thanks all. Debs
tina0101
I'm in a similar situation but from what I can gather, I have no need to worry. The guy's not named on the certificate and has no parental responsibility/ rights so they don't need his permission. If anyone knows otherwise, let me know!! travelchic
Thanks Tina. Do you mind me asking if you used an agent or did it alone. Debs
tina0101
We've used an agent and he hasn't given us any cause for concern on this point. Im still going to worry about it until we've got the visas tho!
travelchic
I am sure your agent is right. My friend is gonna do her visa herself and this is her only concern. Debs
nic1171
Shouldn't be a problem but may need to do a stat dec with a solicitor stating she either dosent know who dad is or dosent know where he is. My sons dad was named but we haven't seen him for years so just wrote that and all was fine.
