Guest
I was so looking forward to my first Christmas back in the UK and we had booked a cottage in Aviemore to share with my parents, and my dad is now bed-ridden and unlikely to recover enough to travel at Christmas. My mum is adamant that we still go and I think would be upset if we didn't. We would, I'm sure, still have a good time but this is not what I imagined at all. I don't live near my parents or Aviemore and they are in opposite directions so there is no compromise. I have offered to go and collect my parents but at the moment my dad can't even get downstairs.
Guest The Pom Queen
Sorry to hear that Hun  Could you not go to them for Christmas instead and cancel the holiday
fourcorners
Don't be sad. Just imagine how you would be feeling if you were still in Australia with your Dad in the same situation. At least now you can go and visit him and as Pom Queen says, have Christmas at theirs. Doesn't really matter where you are for Christmas.
Quoll
 When your olds get frail all plans go out of the window! Hope your dad recovers soon, even if not quite in time for Christmas. Can you defer Aviemore and spend Christmas with your folks at their place?
