I am hoping to hear back from a job slightly inland and am looking to relocate no more than about a 45 minute commute. I was wondering as there's very little written on some of these areas, what they are like for facilities, things to do for children (2-3 year old) amenities e c.. ? I know valentine and eleebana are the nicest but they are A out of distance range and B out of price range (only I would be working to start with!). also, importantly for me, are other people for my partner and daughter to socialise with so they can integrate.

any advice from those in the know would be appreciated!

i stayed in port macquerie in march for 5 days, i liked it my other half didnt. it feels more townish , quite few nice shops , nice parks near the harbour. we went the week after they had really bad flooding in the area , and many towns had become isolated with road closures for short time. houses look nice and there were lots of children about . however , the sea was a brown muddy colour so not very picturesque. i live near burnham on sea in somereset at the moment in uk and the sea is brown here from clay in the seabed abd estuary near bristol , although water is clean and swimmable ... i now am seeking a blue sea for aesthetic purposes!

They asked about Lake Macquarie, not Port Macquarie

Hi Seraphim

As I said in the pm, Toronto is not a good idea. It's a low socio economic area. Don't be fooled by how pretty it is on the foreshore.

Bonnels bay seems like a nice little community but I don't know much about it as it's quite far down.

Speers point would be good - close to amenities and there is a fantastic park there for the kids.

Been having another think.

given where you will be working, why not look at Cooranbong or Dora creek? They are pretty little communities and very safe.

you would be close to Morisset for food shopping and about 25 minutes to Tuggerah on the central coast for the big Westfield.

Bear in mind that depending on time of day of commute, the traffic isn't bad in the area.

  • 1 month later...

Wangi wangi is lovely so is rathmines... Toronto has good parts and lots of amenities. We moved to Australia about 8 months ago and love it, we are renting in wangi now but are looking for our own place to buy... Coal point is good too.
