Queensland Ambulance cover?

The follow website states:

http://transporthealth.com.au/useful-information/ambulance-cover

[h=5]QLD[/h]From 1 July 2011, Queenslanders are no longer required to pay the Community Ambulance Cover Levy—which was paid via their electricity bills. All Queensland residents receive free ambulance cover, both in Queensland and elsewhere across Australia.

Does this count for people on a WHV as well? I cant seem to find any solid information on it.

That is because you are looking at an insurance company website and not the state ambulance service website. Have a look at this link to the Queensland Ambulance Site:

https://ambulance.qld.gov.au/subscribe/faq.asp

The answer to your questions is in the FAQ, however to save you time I have cut and pasted it for you.

Question:

I am working in Queensland on a working Visa am I covered whilst in Queensland?

Hide Answer:

Provided you have a work visa and can show evidence of your Queensland residency such as a:

  • a letter from your employer; or
  • a copy of a rent receipt; or
  • a statutory declaration

You will be fully covered. It is important to note that once you leave Queensland you will no longer be covered.

It is recommended that you contact your travel agent to ensure that you have adequate ambulance cover whilst travelling outside of Queensland.
