We have a state sponsored visa 176 ... Does that have any restrictions on owning a business? We are moving to Canberra Jan 2014. Appreciate any advice on this. Thanks! Guest Posted September 23, 2013 Share Posted September 23, 2013 Yes, my OH worked for himself in WA on a PR visa. He needed to register a business name (since he wasn't using his own) and get an ABN. This isn't the same as setting up a limited company in the UK (& that is still an option in Australia too) it is more like being a sole trader in the UK.
