OZ lander

Hi there, I am in the process of speaking to HSBC to set up the OZ account now before I leave. Just a question for you, how did you transfer you money across? Did you use HSBC or did you use MoneyCorp to transfer GBP to AUD? How many people here have used Money Corp please? I know I keep hearing it has the best rate etc etc but haven't really chatted to anyone who has actually used them? Any guidance please... Thank you!!

We arrive mid-January for a look & see .. Just to see what the job market and rentals are like. We hope at least we can speak to a few people even if it is all quiet

They can withdraw the visa? Seriously? If the state has no jobs would they rather we get a job in another state or be unemployed? Well I am going to get there in Jan 2014 and hopefully the situation is better on the job front. If not, who do we speak to in ACT about moving to another state? Maggie good luck with the job search.

I am in HR / training / recruitment .... Pretty generic so that's why it all sounds scary. Well we are going to give a honest shot in ACT and see what happens. Else we will start applying outside. I don't have the luxury to wait for 6months to get a job. As long as we have the option of applying for jobs outside the ACT its making me feel better.

I have a 176 visa.... Think that's different from a 190. Is it really that bad the job market in Canberra?

Hi Maggie just reading through this sounds a bit scary! What happens if you do not get a job... Are you allowed to work in another state or does that have implications on your visa? I am planning to move in Jan 2014 and reading about the job market is really getting me worried now. :eek: Hope you find something soon.....

Thank you mrpnbe I am moving to Canberra and I gather there are no branches there? I do all my banking on Internet too! I guess I will open an account with NAB anyway and also speak to HSBC here to see how they can help me set up in OZ. cheers

Hi there... Has anyone registered a small business and applied for a trade mark after landing? We have a state sponsored visa 176 ... Does that have any restrictions on owning a business? We are moving to Canberra Jan 2014. Appreciate any advice on this. Thanks! OZ Lander
