Amy Denyer
Hi everyone I have just joined the site. I am a 30 year old single who is making the move this time next year. My visa was granted in May so I am visiting for a holiday at Christmas to validate it before I make the big move! I am a Head of English at an outstanding school so hoping my experience will put me in good stead to be taken on by a school! I love teaching and can only hope I am fortunate enough to secure a role in a school as rewarding as mine has been. If any of you could offer me any advice on life or work in Sydney, it would be gratefully received. It would also be lovely to chat to peeps who are up for socialising (and might be up for future meet ups) as well as those who are into keeping fit - particularly running and the gym! Looking forward to starting a new chapter in my life and making new friends! Amy x

AaronS
Hi Aaron Why Manly? Amy Not as touristy as the city and still a lot to do and all close so you could get away with not having a car if you like. Mostly because there is a lot to do for a young, single person. Mostly because there is a lot to do for a young, single person. Manly is still very touristy, and the access to the City isn't the best. Saying that I do like it up there, and its much better than the Eastern suburbs. Still can't beat Cronulla though, lol.
Mick501
A teacher heading to Sydney in August 2014. Have you had any joy finding info about teaching in Sydney? Been doing a lot of research and things don't look as rosey as it first seemed! Mick

Mostly because there is a lot to do for a young, single person. I wouldn't say that my part of the city - just south and east is 'touristy!' (Surry Hills/Strawberry Hills) Maybe a couple of kilometres north around The Rocks and Circular Quay! I went to the Opera House last Saturday arvo to see 'The Comedy of Errors' (aka 'The Tottenham Hotspur & England cricket teams Story!) and it was packed with people around Circular Quay, though plenty of them must have been locals too, (including me.) I will admit that after one beer in The Opera Bar, I was glad to walk back to Circular Quay and get a train back to Central.
britsabroad2013
Hi Amy, Good luck with the move! You will love it here! January will be a food time for you to arrive and get settled. The school year starts back at the end of Jan so you have time to get ready. I'm not a teacher. It from I understand it may be worth while registering with a few teacher agencies to get you going and get out there. Hope all goes well.
LJReed
Hi Amy, Have you made the move to Oz yet? I'm in the process of looking to work out there for a year as I also want to travel but not sure where to start in terms of looking.
